Personal Statement:

My style of work is active and collaborative, with the goal of encouraging the kind of self-reflection which can enable more satisfying personal and professional relationships. At the start of my career, over 35 years ago, I had the opportunity to work with Cuban refugees, with children and adolescents in foster care, and with adolescent and adult sentenced men in Rikers Island. Although I currently work primarily with self sufficient professional adults, those earlier situations allowed me to experience firsthand the consequences of failed environments. I continually pursue new ways of working respectfully to enable people to develop greater curiosity about their thinking processes, feelings, and behaviors, and to recognize the positive and negative consequences of their actions.
