After thirty years of practice, learning from people of different walks of life, ethnic backgrounds and lifestyles, ranging in age from three to ninety two, each unique, each a universe of memories and experiences, I am humbled and enriched to have shared in their humanizing journeys. Public speaking, theater arts, music, teaching, writing and raising a family have afforded me insight into my own follies, joys, tragedies and renewals, enabling me to more keenly appreciate the struggles of my patients. More than counseling, I regard our work to be a transformative experience of healing and growth. Remember, the origin of the word, "psychotherapy," is caring for or attending to the soul.
